Drama Exam Audience
Mrs Whyte would like to thank the pupils who were part of the audience for the N5 and Higher Drama performance exams.  The behaviour and general conduct was impeccable, allowing the smooth running of the exam day.  The actors have commented on the fantastic support the audience gave them.  Thank you!

The group are meeting this Tuesday lunchtime (Tuesday 31st March).  Please attend if you can – lots to plan!  New members welcome.  The meeting is held in the Drama Classroom (Art corridor).

Senior Theatre Trip
See Mrs Whyte if you are interested in attending ‘Hedda Gabler’ at the Lyceum Theatre on Wednesday 1st April, 7:30pm.  Free tickets are available – first come, first served basis!

Arrangements for Thursday, 2 April 2015
Normal classes p 1-5 with the exception of the opt in Easter service @10am
Period 6 end of term celebration assembly in the hall .
Pupils are reminded that it is not dress down day and there will be no tutor challenge.
Classes will be called down to the dining hall by tannoy once the hall has been set up.
We are very aware that this is a very important time of year for seniors.   The senior school is focused on their final course work and want to keep disruption to the minimum and support them to be successful.

OPT in Easter service 10 am Thursday 2 April 2015
Forgiveness is easier said than done!
This will be held by the chaplaincy team in the drama studio.   The theme is Forgiveness is easier said than done!
Everyone is welcome but pupils wishing to attend will be required to sign up for this at registration during Monday to Wednesday and a list will be circulated to staff on the Thursday am.  If your name is not on the list you will not be allowed out of class to attend.  If for any reason you have not applied to go having missed registration you must see Mrs Sinclair before 9.15am on the Thursday to ask for a permission slip from me.

Dress Down Day Cancelled
In light of the fact that seniors have exams coming up in the next few weeks and full concentration in classes is essential, we have taken the decision to cancel the dress down day on the last day of term.  ALL pupils should come to school in full uniform with the necessary equipment they require for their classes.  However, watch this space for other exciting fundraising activities/dress downs days we have planned for later in the school year!

Expressive Arts Show
The Expressive Arts Show is taking place on Thursday 23rd April at 7.00pm.  It will include an exhibition of pupils work, plus music, dance and drama performances.
 
Tickets are on sale now from Mrs Brown in the Library and at break time in the dining area.

ESOL at Drummond High School 2015-2016
Edinburgh College are now taking applications for Nat 3, 4, 5 and Higher ESOL.
Mrs Hutchinson and Mrs Kelso (EAL Teachers) will be coming to speak to students who receive EAL Support.
If you do not receive EAL Support but would like to apply, please speak to your Guidance Teacher.
The deadline for applications is 15 May 2015.

Outdoor Learning Easter Programme 2015
The City of Edinburgh Council, Sports and Outdoor Learning Unit has a full programme of outdoor and adventurous activities taking place this Easter in Edinburgh. The programme starts on Monday 6th April and runs until Friday 17th April 2015.  Sessions include:
Mountain Biking
Indoor Climbing
Archery
Kayaking
Canoeing
Hill walking
The programme is open to pupils from P6 – S4 and most sessions run from 10:00 – 16:00.  You can book individual days or a full week’s progressive programme. You may also be able to work towards outdoor skills awards.

Teenage Booster and Meningitis C Immunisation Forms
Please can any pupils who have not returned their Teenage Booster or Meningitis C Immunisation forms yet, hand them into the school office by Monday, 23 March 2015.  Any pupils who do not hand in their form will not be given the vaccine on the day.

Pupils are reminded that the Higher Drama Performance exams are next Wednesday (25th March).  These exams take place in the Drama Studio and Drama Classroom (Art corridor).  Please be extremely quiet as you pass these areas on Wednesday so that the exam is not disturbed.

Modern Languages
It is that time of year again for N5 and Higher Modern Languages SQA Speaking Exams. All pupils involved should be preparing thoroughly at home, in GASS and in lessons for those important exams.  Those marks go to your final grades so it is very important that you achieve the highest score possible. If you do not prepare for those exams you risk getting a weaker overall score in August and you may not reach your Target Grade! So, get revising! Bon courage! Los!”

Outward Bound Trip News

 
Final Payments & Return of Forms
A reminder that the latest date for any remaining final payments is Friday 27th March. Outward Bound forms & EE2 consent forms should also be returned. Please hand in payments and forms to the school office in an envelope marked both with your names and the words ‘Outward Bound’.

Pre-trip Information Evening
There will be a parent/carer information evening on Wednesday 25th March from 5.30 - 6.00pm. This is an opportunity to find out more about the trip and for participants and their parents/carers to ask questions or to pass on additional information they feel is important for me to know.

There will be an Information Evening on Thursday 26 March 2015

Expressive Arts Show
The Expressive Arts Show is taking place on Thursday 23rd April at 7.00pm.  It will include an exhibition of pupils work, plus music, dance and drama performances.

Outward Bound Trip – Final Payment & Important Information Required
All Pupils going on this year’s trip should have now received a large A4 envelope this week containing information about the Outward Bound Trip, if not see your Group Tutor.  Please complete all forms inside and return any remaining payments no later than Friday, 27th March 2015.  Payments and forms should be handed into the school office.
