Attendance
This term GRACEMOUNT WENT GREEN on 1st June which proved you can do it!  Next session you will all begin on 100% for attendance - how many of you will be able to keep that going?

Could Gracemount be Green for a week? a month? a term?  Let’s be ambitious and aim for the year!

Congratulations to those who achieved 100% Attendance certificates at the Celebration Evening on Wednesday.

Have a great summer holiday and rest up ready to attend EVERY DAY next term!
Ms Pretswell

Thank You from Music Department
A sincere ‘thank you’ from all of the music staff to all of the wind band members and soloists who performed brilliantly at the Celebration Evening on Wednesday.  You are a credit to the school and should be very proud of your achievements.  Have a great holiday.
Ms Kerr

Thank You from Charities
The Charities Committee would like to thank all staff and pupils who have taken part in today’s Dress Down Day for Edinburgh Young Carers.

-          Edinburgh Young Carers Project works with young people aged 5 to 20 years old who care for or are affected by someone else at home - usually a parent or sibling.

The money raised will provide practical and emotional support to young carers in Edinburgh, but also provide day or residential breaks for the young carers to have an opportunity away from their caring situation and have fun.
The Charities Committee

I hope everybody has a relaxing holiday, keep yourselves safe and have fun! I am looking forward to seeing everyone back in full uniform and on time ready for an exciting new term.  See you all on Monday 17 August @8.30 am.

Enjoy the break.
Ms Sinclair

P7 Three day visit Tuesday 16 – Thursday 17 June 2015
Next week we will welcome the P7 pupils who will be joining us as S1 in August.  They are all very excited about coming to High school and I would ask everyone to make them welcome.

Please help them to find their way around school and remember that to them the school can feel a big and scary place.

Please make sure you move around the school in an orderly fashion keep to the left in corridors and use the correct staircase.  You all have the opportunity to be positive role models to these younger pupils and I hope I can count on your help.
Thank you!

Congratulations
Congratulations to the following pupils who were nominated for a variety of awards at last night's Liberton and Gilmerton neighbourhood Partnership Youth Talk awards- Jay Watson, Tia Watson, Alana Graham and Kirsty Wilson.

There was some tough competition so very well done to the winners of the Diversity Champion award which was our Diversity and LGBT team Diane Craig, Keiran Holburn, Chloe Yeung, Sean Adams, Millie Lawrie, Michael Kerr, Alexandria Warner and Linnea Halliday.

The volunteer award was won by Ben Ferguson and former pupil Michael Harris won the Green Warrior Award.

It was a fabulous evening held at the Faith Mission and so good to recognise the efforts of these pupils.  Congratulations to them all.  Next year it would be great to have even more Gracemount pupils nominated so keep up the good work.

Pupil Council Meeting
There will be a Pupil Council meeting today during period 4. Anyone is welcome to attend but you MUST go and seek your class teacher’s permission before coming down to the meeting.

Moving Between Classes
Pupils are reminded to move quietly and quickly between classes.  You are asked to keep to the left and use the correct staircase.  There have been a number of incidents recently when pupils have crowded the corridors or blocked the flow of traffic on the stairs.  Such behaviour is extremely dangerous and has already resulted in injury to some.  Please act as responsible citizens and behave in a safe manner to avoid such problems.
