Gracemount Gives Back – Foodbank Collection
After a very successful few years, we are going to run our 'Gracemount Gives Back' Foodbank Collection again.  The collection will run from Monday 3rd – Monday 17th December.

Donations of non-perishable/tinned foods are welcomed.  Selection boxes at this time of year are also gratefully received.  We would also welcome the following non-food items:
Toiletries: Deodorant, shampoo, shower get etc.
Household items: Washing up liquid, washing powder etc.
Feminine products
Baby supplies: nappies, baby wipes and baby food

Please hand in all donations to your registration teacher.

Football Forum Newcastle Trip Meeting

S1 Outward Bound Trip 2019 - Update
Thank you to all S1 pupils who have paid their first payment of £65.50 using parent pay. To date 44, S1 pupils have signed up for the trip. However I still need payment from 11 pupils. If you still have not paid your first payment then please do so by Friday 7 December or come speak with me or your guidance teacher.

Summer Ball 2019
Summer Ball 2019. All deposits should now have been paid. Contracts should have been returned to Miss Taylor. If you still need to return your contract, please do so asap.

If you would still like to attend the Ball but have not yet paid the deposit you must speak to Miss Taylor or there may not be a place for you.

S1 Pupils - Outward Bound (2019) Payment & Places
There are currently just 4 places left on the Outward Bound trip. If you still want to go then please see Mr Wyllie by the end of this week.

Also, a reminder that all pupils should have now paid their first payment of £65.50 for Outward Bound. If you haven’t paid then please do so as soon as possible using parent pay. Scottish Book Week
It is Scottish Book Week this week.  There will be a number of activities taking place during the week, but one that needs highlighted is

Readaxation- Tuesday lunchtime

The library will be open all Tuesday lunchtime, but only for reading and relaxing!  The computers will be off!  Bring along your lunch,  as the last entry will be 1.20pm, when the quiet time really kicks in

Remember reading is brilliant for your mental health!

RGU On-campus workshops

Robert Gordon University have three workshops coming up before Christmas. Details of these events and how to register is included below;


Engineering and Computing Sessions – 14th November 2018 – 09:30 – 14:45 – RGU Campus, Aberdeen

This is a day of interactive sessions to provide pupils with an insight into courses and careers on offer in Engineering and Computing. Led by experts in the subjects and supported by current RGU students, these workshops are suitable for any 5th and 6th year students current studying any of the following subjects; Maths, Physics, Computing, Engineering.

Scott Sutherland School of Architecture Sessions – 21st November – 12:00 – 15:00 – RGU Campus, Aberdeen

Led by experts in Architecture, Construction, Surveying and Architectural Technology, this event is suitable for any 5th and 6th year student who would like to find out more about their options in these industries.

A Day in the Life of an Occupational Therapist – 18th December – 10:00 – 15:00 – Ninewells Hospital, Dundee

This interactive session has been designed to provide an overview of what occupational therapists do in their daily work whilst exploring the key skills involved in being an occupational therapist. This event is open to any 5th or 6th year students who are considering a career in occupational therapy.

S1 Outward Bound 2019 Trip
The official closing date for S1 pupils putting their name down for this trip was Friday 2nd November.  All pupils who returned their note of interest slips should now be on Parent Pay and should make sure their first amount of £65.50 is paid this week.  If there are any problems with this then pupils should see Mr Wyllie immediately.

If you have an interest in a career as a Social Worker, please see the details below:

“So, You Want to be a Social Worker?” will take place from 1.30pm until 4.30pm in the University of Edinburgh’s central campus on Friday 2nd November. Pupils will hear from social workers working within a variety of areas, about their “typical” days, as well as academic staff who will talk about the university course content. There will be discussion workshops and opportunities for pupils to get advice about applying to social work courses (e.g., entrance requirements, work experience, personal statements etc).

Alton Towers 2019
A reminder that any pupils who want to go on the Alton Towers trip must return the forms to Mr Gregor by Friday 2nd November.

The trip is open to all S4/S5/S6 pupils who have attendance of 85%+.

Any S1 pupils who have received medical forms please return them with any medication ASAP to Mrs Fraser (Welfare). If your child has a medical condition that requires medication for example Asthma, it is imperative that the appropriate medication /forms are handed into school.
